The Perfect Opportunity | Trine Day
I just happened to be at a game where Alexis pitched a perfect game. I filmed just the right amount to tell the story in short form and figured out a way to put the story to use with a relatively quick turn around. I think highlight videos of certain sporting events, especially at this level can be really not all that interesting and just don’t capture hearts of a viewer. For this promotional video, I wrote a tie in that made it linked to fundraising. There is so much enthusiasm about investing in athletics as this university continues to grow, especially through growth in athletics. I really loved doing the text animation edit and refining this short story as much as I could to only include essential facts and information that still moves an audience. I think my favorite part of this edit was timing out the strikeout with the music that had that zoom sound effect built into it and Alexis pitching and going off screen as the call-to-action begins at 1:29. Sadly, I think 90 seconds is about the retention maximum these days. In many ways the average is much much shorter than that. But I’ve always enjoyed long-form content and know that so many people have an appetite and attention span for it. I think you just get so many more layers to a story the longer you go. So this was a fun project to play around with trying to keep it long form by keeping the wording meaningful not too fluffy and simple, while trimming half a second here, 1.5 seconds there. Hope you enjoy and maybe even consider donating to Trine University sometime.
